Thanks for TRC Climbathon

On March 2 and 3rd, Triangle Rock Club (TRC) hosted a 12-hour Climbathon to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House of Durham (RMHD).

The 16 four-person teams who registered for the event were each challenged to raise a minimum of $1,000, with the total fundraising goal for the event set at $40,000.

Overall, the teams raised a staggering $68,000, crushing the original goal, to benefit the RMHD’s latest project: a major home expansion that will nearly double their capacity and help them serve twice the number of families needing their support each year. You can still make a donation to a specific climbing team or to the event goal in general by visiting visit http://www.trcclimbathon.kintera.org.

Throughout the 12-hour indoor climbing event, participants enjoyed music, camaraderie, snacks, as well as plenty of caffeine to keep their energy levels up and carry them throughout the night. The event concluded on Saturday morning with a breakfast for all the competitors compliments of McDonald's.

At that time, prizes were awarded to the top three teams in both the Altitude and Fundraising categories, with prizes including TRC gift certificates and items from the following vendors: REI, The North Face, Evolv, Great Outdoor Provision Company, Tyler’s Tap Room, Red Bull, Mountain Khakis, Sterling Ropes, Metolius, and Eldorado Climbing Walls.
