Guest Services and Administration

  • Welcome families, donors, volunteers and guests by being their first point of contact with RMH
  • Answer and direct phone calls
  • Give house tours to guests and other volunteers
  • Maintain neat and tidy appearance of the public areas of the house

Time Commitment: 3 hour shift per week with a minimum of a 4-6 month commitment.

Special Events

  • Assist with fundraising events, planning events and communication
  • Work directly with the Special Events Coordinator

    • Time Commitment: Seasonal short term commitment, time frame dependent on event and your schedule

    General Cleaning / Handyperson

  • Maintain cleanliness of public areas of the house
  • Help prepare bedrooms for incoming guests
  • Help with minor repairs as your skill level allows

    • Time Commitment: 1-3 hours weekly with a 4-6 month commitment

    Family Room Volunteer

  • Volunteer directly at Duke Children’s Hospital in Durham or Wake Med in Raleigh
  • Assist family members of hospitalized children by welcoming families and lending a listening ear
  • Volunteers must be 21 years old to volunteer at Duke Hospital and 18 years old to volunteer at Wake Med Hospital.

    • Time Commitment: One 3 hour shift at least once a month with a commitment of 6 months or more.

    Group Volunteer Opportunities

     

    Arts & Crafts / Family Activities

  • Help organize, furnish supplies or lead a craft activity or movie night for guest families.
  • A movie night, craft, or themed holiday party - be as creative as you wish.

    • Time commitment: One time commitment of 1-3 hours. If you are interested in providing an activity for the House Guests, e-mail Jessica the Volunteer Coordinator with the dates and activities you are interested in at jessica.maynard@ronaldhousedurham.org

    Provide a Meal for House Guests

  • Buy, cook and serve dinner for 50 people
  • Great for small groups, Girl Scout troupes, Sunday School classes, sororities or fraternities, sports clubs, etc.

    • Time commitment: 1 time commitment of 3-4 hours, plus donation of food and paper products for that meal

    If you are interested in providing a meal for the House Guests, first, please look at our “Meal Group Calendar” link located on the right side of the page, and chose 1 or 2 dates that your group is interested in.  Then, e-mail Jessica Maynard, Volunteer Coordinator with the dates you would like to serve. She will contact you shortly to confirm one of the dates.

    Bakers

  • Help our house smell like home by baking up something wonderful in the kitchen.
  • Provide the ingredients, we’ll provide the supplies and cooking space.

    • Time Commitment: One time commitment of 1-2 hours

    General Cleaning

    Help keep our house as clean and tidy as can be.  Volunteers are needed to deep clean, organize and maintain our beautiful home. 

    Time Commitment: One time commitment of 2-3 hours.
